Lorrie’s Favorite Chocolate-Peanut Butter Green Smoothie

green smoothie intense

This is my favorite way of getting greens into my day.  Although it’s a nice treat after dinner to replace dessert, it’s also a great way to beat the heat and the midday slump.  Kale is a fantastic boost for energy as well as providing vitamin B6, dietary fiber, calcium, potassium, vitamin E, vitamin B2, iron, magnesium, vitamin B1, omega-3 fatty acids phosphorus, protein, folate, and niacin!  Now, that’s my kind of treat!

Ingredients :

chocolate smoothie

1 Scoop of clean Chocolate Protein Powder with Stevia
1/2 teaspoon of raw cacao powder (optional)
1-3 cups of frozen kale
1 frozen banana (1/2 if you’re reducing your sugars)*
1 1/2 teaspoons of organic peanut or almond butter
5 Ice cubes
1 cup almond milk (use cold, filtered water if you’re reducing your fats)
1/2 teaspoon raw organic cacao nibs (optional)

*Tips!

If you don’t own a high powered blender like a Vitamix, blend your frozen kale and water first to reduce larger pieces.  Freeze your bananas in pieces to avoid blender burn out!
